Sheriff Gary Driskell announces that the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating two incidents from Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

Dispatch received a complaint at 8:40 pm of shots fired at a vehicle on Irish Bend Road. Deputies arrived at the scene and spoke to the complainant who stated that shots were fired at their vehicle while traveling on Irish Bend Road.

Deputies found damage to the complainant’s vehicle as well as additional evidence to substantiate the complaint. There were no reports of anyone injured. The incident remains under investigation.

Earlier in the day, dispatch received a complaint from the administration of Glencoe Charter School that an 18-wheeler had clipped a bus loaded with students at the intersection of Cypremort Road and Highway 83. The 18-wheeler did not stop after the contact.

There were no injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing at this time.
